Ben Koppelman is the President/CEO of St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids, MN. He completed his undergraduate degree in hospital administration at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, and received his MBA from the University of Minnesota. In 2009 he was honored as one of Modern Healthcare’s Up and Comers and the Health Care Auxiliary of Minnesota award him its Heart of Minnesota Award for his support of volunteers. In 2011 and 2012 he was named by Becker’s Review to their list of 25 Rising Stars, Healthcare Leaders Under Age 40.
Ben has worked for Catholic Health Initiatives for the past 19 years. He has been President and CEO of St. Joseph's Area Health Services since 2007. Prior to that he served as Administrator for the Albany Area Hospital & Medical Center from 1995-2006. He is responsible for overall leadership and operational and financial management of the 25-bed critical access hospital. Since joining St. Joseph’s he has overseen completion of a major expansion and renovation project and the promotion of numerous quality initiatives. In 2013 St. Joseph’s was named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics.
Ben served as Chair of the Minnesota Hospital Association’s Board of Directors in 2013 and also served for five years as the Chair of the Association’s Small & Rural Hospital Committee. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Minnesota Chapter board. He also serves on several local Boards in Park Rapids.
