Larry P. Schumacher
Senior Vice President of Operations, Southeast Division
As the Senior Vice President of Operations, Larry P. Schumacher leads the Southeast Division, one of CHI’s largest and most geographically diverse service areas, promoting healthier communities across Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky and Eastern Ohio.
Larry also served as CEO of CHI Memorial in Chattanooga from January 2016 to September 2018. Prior to CHI, Larry served eight years as System Chief Operating Officer of the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) based in Springfield, Illinois. Prior to that, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Via Christi Health Network in Wichita, Kansas and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Health Network in Des Moines, Iowa.
He started his career in critical care and cardiovascular nursing at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, Indiana University Hospital/Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Research Medical Center in Kansas City, and Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.
