CHI St. Joseph’s Health, Park Rapids, MN, has a new 3D mammography system, which enables physicians to see breast tissue with greater depth and clarity than a standard mammogram. The system also provides individualized dosing, based on each patient’s breast characteristics, to minimize patients’ radiation dosage and exposure up to 30%. The system’s high-quality 3D images help to improve diagnostic confidence and detect lesions earlier, and provides the patient with a more comfortable exam experience.
Nearly half of women have dense breasts, which can complicate efforts to detect lesions. When radiologists assess density visually, after the patient leaves, it can lead to unnecessary callbacks. CHI St. Joseph’s Health new 3D mammography system is the first to provide automated breast density measurement during an exam.
CHI St. Joseph’s Health will introduce the new system to the community during an 3D Mammography Open House on House on January 23.
