Saint Joseph Mount Sterling, Mount Sterling, KY, opened a new, six-bed progressive care unit (PCU) in March that will better serve patients who are transitioning between the intensive care unit (ICU) and medical-surgical care.

"With the opening of the new PCU, we're working to meet the needs of our community," said Jennifer Chism, RN, director of nursing for Saint Joseph Mount Sterling. "This new unit will help us grow and better serve our patients."

Six beds are dedicated to the new PCU and eight nurses will staff the unit, providing an exceptional 3-to-1 patient care ratio.
