All vendors must respect and support CHI’s gifting policy, which discourages gifts. Any gifts that are provided to CHI employees must be of only nominal value.
While it is common practice for vendors to give gifts to business contacts to help establish and maintain relationships, the health care industry is different because the federal government pays for health care services using taxpayer dollars. To help contain the cost of health care products and services, the health care industry discourages gifting.
Note that CHI also does not allow vendors to cover travel expenses for an employee to visit a vendor site or demonstration project.
