As one of the largest faith-based providers of community- and academic center-based care in the era of health care reform, CHI recognizes the necessity of research innovation.
CHI Institute for Research and Innovation (CIRI) is the engine for the coordination of research and clinical trials across CHI’s nationwide system of more than 100+ hospitals, physicians, research staff and academic medical center partners.
We are dedicated to expanding clinician and patient access to novel treatments, devices and research protocols that may otherwise be unavailable with the community healthcare setting.
CIRI is a partnering organization that connects CHI’s hospitals with system-wide initiatives, research programs, as well as private, government and industry partners who are dedicated to research and innovation. We serve as a central point to collaborators and sponsors throughout the healthcare research community.
The formation of CIRI showed the health care community and industry that CHI is a vested participant in the process of innovation. It also highlighted the prioritization of research at CHI, which has a long history of pioneering models and systems to enhance care delivery and patient access.
Staffed by fully dedicated research professionals, CIRI focuses on three main areas that present challenges and opportunities to modern health care:
CIRI staff members are our core resources. We are experts in research management, strategy, medical affairs, finance, regulatory requirements, legal contracting, data science and medical technology. CIRI employs physicians, research specialists, certified clinical research coordinators and research nurses. Staff members come from diverse backgrounds that span community healthcare, industry and academia.
CIRI consists of the Center for Clinical Research, our Human Research Protection Program and Institutional Review Board and the Clinical Data Research Management function.
