Haiti Relief Contribution Deadline Extended: MBOs, Employees Continue Their Support

As of January 26, the Denver office received a total of $12,380 in contributions for earthquake relief in Haiti, in addition to a $40,000 contribution from CHI. The contributions will be sent to two organizations – the Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB) and Catholic Relief Services – that are providing basic health and human services to people affected by the damage from the January 12 earthquake.
Of the $12,380 in contributions, two contributions totaling $8,000 were made by Alegent Health. Omaha, NE, and Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, NE. The remaining contributions were made by individuals within CHI.
Due to the continuing high level of interest in helping the Haiti disaster victims, CHI has extended the contribution deadline to February 28. Send checks payable to “CHI National Office – Haiti Relief” to:

On January 25, two members of the CMMB board were interviewed on Larry King Live (click to read a transcript of the show) about the organization’s relief efforts in Haiti. CMMB staff and volunteers have been working since January 12 to help as many people as possible, distributing supplies and getting hospitals up and running. Colleen Scanlon, CHI’s SVP of advocacy, serves on the CMMB board of directors.
Several CHI physicians and clinicians are also providing direct aid to residents of Haiti. Team members from St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, KS; St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, MD; and Sts.
