Saint Francis Foundation in Grand Island raises funds for attack victims

The Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation, Grand Island, Neb., raised $82,116 in contributions for the families of those killed in the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center. The foundation started its "Island to Island" campaign two days after the attack with a goal of raising $50,000 and a promise to match the first $20,000 in donations. When those figures were surpassed, the foundation raised the goal to $75,000, with $30,000 in matching funds. More than 150 Saint Francis employees donated vacation time at a value of nearly $20,000, and more contributions came from schoolchildren, businesses and civic organizations.

The foundation presented the money to the Greater New York Hospital Foundation to provide assistance

and counseling services to the families of those lost in the disaster. For more information, contact Barbara Georgi, vice president, Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation, at 308/398-5400.
