Cancer program at St. John’s in Joplin receives accreditation

The cancer program at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., has received accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACOS). "We are proud to receive this approval of our comprehensive cancer program," said Whit Sanders, director of radiation oncology at St. John’s. "It is only given to those facilities that voluntarily commit to provide the best in diagnosis and treatment and undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of performance." The ACOS uses 10 standards to evaluate cancer programs and their ability to promote and support a multidisciplinary approach to the management of cancer.
