Melfi elected chair of insurance company board
Mitch Melfi, senior vice president and chief risk officer for Catholic Health Initiatives, has been elected chair of the board of Preferred Professional Insurance Company (PPIC). The company, which is owned by Catholic Health Initiatives, 10 other Catholic health care systems and Catholic Mutual Group, provides coverage for hospitals, staff and physicians.
PPIC primarily writes professional and general liability insurance for physicians who are associated with its owner health care systems. The company also writes insurance for workers compensation, including a fronted workers compensation program on behalf of its largest owner, Catholic Health Initiatives.
A.M. Best recently upgraded PPIC’s financial rating to an A- (excellent).
