Catholic Health Initiatives has published a resource manual for those interested in learning more about integrative health care and its implementation within a market-based organization. Integrative Health Care: An Emerging Approach to the Art of Healing was authored primarily

by Carl Middleton, vice president of theology and ethics and chair of the Catholic Health Initiatives Integrative Health Care Advisory Council. Its 17 chapters cover everything from the historical context for integrative health care to successful practice models. The manual includes Catholic Health Initiatives’ comprehensive care assessment tool; a glossary of complementary and alternative medicine terminology; and select bibliographies.

The manual has already been shared with the members of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy by Milt Hammerly, MD, director of integrative medicine for Catholic Health Initiatives. "I shared the table of contents with the commission during my testimony, and the members immediately asked for a copy of the entire manual," said Hammerly.
