Directors Attend Consorta Conference and Make Time for Networking

More than 100 pharmacy, cardiovascular services, radiology and materials management directors from Catholic Health Initiatives recently met in Chicago, Ill., prior to the start of the Annual Resource Management Conference held by Consorta. Consorta, a group purchasing organization in which Catholic Health Initiatives is a shareholder, held the conference from October 30 to November 1.

"Because so many of our directors were gathering for Consorta’s conference, it was an ideal opportunity for them to network and talk about what’s happening in the supply chain within Catholic Health Initiatives," said Phil Mears, vice president of supply chain. "Even though we are all connected by phone and e-mail, there’s no substitute for open, face-to-face discussion. We were also able to connect directors who have specific supply chain challenges with others in our organization who have solutions."

At the conference, Catholic Health Initiatives’ directors were brought up to date on Consorta’s contract portfolio and successful performance during the group purchasing organization’s first two years. They also attended several keynote sessions and a variety of break-out sessions on topics ranging from Medicare billing to e-commerce, ethics, antimicrobial resistance, benchmarking, thrombolytic therapy and more.
