St. Vincent Infirmary Earns Magnet Status
St. Vincent Infirmary, Little Rock, AR, is the first hospital in the state to earn Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet status honors hospitals for excellence in nursing leadership, clinical practice, innovations and positive outcomes. St. Vincent began its Magnet application process in April 2011. Last month, the hospital hosted a site visit by ANCC appraisers, who met with nurses, physicians, hospital leaders, other staff members and community members during the three-day visit. “St. Vincent is celebrating its 125th year of serving this community. This recognition is a great tribute to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and the legacy of healing that we continue today. We’re honored to be among the few in the country and the only Arkansas hospital that has earned the Magnet designation," said Peter Banko, president and chief executive officer of St. Vincent Health System.
