Mercy Medical Center, Williston, ND, and CHI hosted a blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open a new Outpatient Surgery Center and BirthPlace. The building includes three state-of the-art operating rooms and future space to outfit a fourth. There are two procedure rooms, four recovery bays and eight private rooms for day surgery patients. For patients who require a longer recovery period, there are eight private extended stay rooms. The building also houses the only hospital-based outpatient birthing facility in the Northwest U.S., The BirthPlace at Mercy, which has eight labor, delivery and recovery suites. After giving birth, mothers who desire a traditional recovery period will be transferred to the existing obstetrical unit in the hospital. Patients who are medically cleared and choose to recover in the new facility will stay up to 23 hours after giving birth.
