KentuckyOne Unveils Organizational Structure

KentuckyOne Health announced a new structure and named some key executives. KentuckyOne is now organized into divisions that will help the organization prepare for a future in which accessible, integrated care will become even more important. Division leaders will report to Ruth Brinkley, KentuckyOne president and CEO.

The new divisions and their leaders include:

Hospitals/Acute-Care Services, responsible for centralizing the inpatient business and ensuring the same level of service at all hospitals. Leader: Bev Weber, RN, COO.

Clinical Enterprise, responsible for the clinical enterprise across the continuum of care. Leader: Dan Varga, MD, chief physician executive.

Ambulatory/Wellness, Prevention and Continuum Services, responsible for meeting the need to more closely coordinate care across multiple sites and care environments, and improving patient access to ambulatory care. Leader: Identification of a leader for this division is underway.

Mission Integration, responsible for ensuring that the organization’s identity permeates its culture, business processes and care delivery. Leader: Identification of a leader for this division is underway.

Strategy and Business Development, responsible for working closely with the Clinical Enterprise to develop strategy and business development initiatives. Leader: Matt Gibson, interim chief strategy and business development officer

Financial Services, responsible for financial services and financial stewardship initiatives. Leader: Gary Ermers, interim VP of finance.

Human Resources, responsible for developing a workplace strategy that ensures all KentuckyOne employees can thrive. Leader: Tanja Oquendo, chief HR officer.

Senior Strategic Advisor to CEO, responsible for serving as senior strategic advisor to Ruth Brinkley on local and statewide strategic considerations. David Laird, former president and CEO of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare, will fill this role.

Corporate Responsibility, part of CHI’s national corporate responsibility function, will support reduced compliance risk for KentuckyOne. Leaders: Betsy Hall, division corporate responsibility officer; Carla Walter, assistant division corporate responsibility officer.

Legal Services, supported by CHI’s expertise and resources as well as local and regional resources, will develop and maintain KentuckyOne’s legal function. Sharon Hager, VP of legal operations for CHI, is the senior counsel responsible for legal operations in Kentucky.

The leaders mentioned above and several others also serve on the KentuckyOne Strategy and Policy Council. This council serves as an executive “cabinet,” advising Brinkley on all matters of strategic importance.

Brinkley has also formed a new Physician Leadership Council to advise her and the rest of the senior leadership team. The council members seek to anticipate changes in health care delivery, evaluate and improve KentuckyOne’s physician relationships and enhance KentuckyOne’s market position. The council includes both employed and independent physicians from across the state and across specialties.
