Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Begin 200th Anniversary Celebration
On Dec. 3, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (SCN) began a year-long celebration that will culminate in the congregation’s 200th anniversary on Dec. 1, 2012. About 250 members of the SCN family from around the world gathered on the SCN campus to pray and reflect on the congregation’s history and future. Additional sisters and associates joined the celebration via Internet connection from Botswana, Belize and India. Events planned for the next year include the unveiling of a new painting of Mother Catherine Spalding, the first superior of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, in March and an alumni gathering in September.
