CHI in Top Quintile of U.S. Health Systems
CHI is in the top 20 percent of the nation's best-performing health systems, according to a study by Thomson Reuters. In the study, Thomson Reuters evaluated 285 health systems, ranking them on eight measures of clinical quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction. The study found that the top systems have better short- and longer-term survival rates and fewer patient complications; follow accepted care protocols and patient safety standards more closely; and return patients to their homes sooner, with an average length of stay more than half a day less than at similar systems. Alegent Health, a CHI joint operating agreement in Omaha, NE, also ranked in the top quintile.
