Community Collaborates to Open a Free Health Center
The Good Samaritan Free Health Center of Price Hill opened in January to serve a community that includes a large number of people, often called the "working poor," who earn too much to qualify for programs such as Medicaid but too little to afford health insurance. The health center provides adult primary care through the services of volunteer physicians, incorporates the medical home model of care, and engages social workers and parish nurses. The two-year pilot project is being funded by donations from the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, the SC Ministry Foundation and others. For more information, contact Lisa Owendoff.
