Woods Resigns from CHI, Saint Joseph Health System
Gene Woods has resigned as senior vice president of division operations for CHI and chief executive officer of Saint Joseph Health System of Kentucky, effective May 2. He has accepted the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer for CHRISTUS Health, a Catholic health system headquartered in Irving, TX. CHRISTUS has 50 hospitals and long-term care facilities, plus 175 clinics and outpatient centers in eight states and Mexico.
Woods joined CHI in 2005 as president and chief executive officer of Saint Joseph Health Care, Lexington, KY. In 2007, he was appointed chief executive officer of the newly created Saint Joseph Health System.
Paul Edgett, senior vice president, national business lines, will continue to lead negotiations for the development of a statewide Kentucky health network that will include Saint Joseph Health System, Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare and the University of Louisville Hospital. CHI expects to announce interim leadership for Saint Joseph Health System in early April.
