CHI Receives Innovation Award from Clairvia

CHI received an Innovation Award for outstanding use of the Clairvia Care Value Management (CVM) system, known within CHI as the Care Value System. CHI received the award at Clairvia's 2010 user conference in Orlando, FL.

Clarivia presented the award to recognize CHI's innovative use of the Patient Progress Manager tool to track patients' expected length of stay by Medicare severity diagnosis-related group (MSDRG). This helps care teams estimate and plan for a patient's expected length of stay and optimize the timing of care delivery.

"That leads to better outcomes and use of resources," said Barbara Caspers, RN, director of nursing research and practice for CHI. "Care team consensus on a patient's departure date gives the team something to manage toward." This approach also calls for care teams to conduct daily rounds to evaluate patients' clinical progress against their MSDRGs. The team can set clinical goals for each patient and help ensure adequate reimbursement for high-quality care.
