National Study Names CHI, Alegent Among Top Health Systems

CHI is among the top 51 health care systems in the nation, according to Thomson Reuters' second annual Health System Benchmarking Study. The study identified the top 51 best-performing health systems in the U.S. based on clinical performance across the entire system. Alegent Health, Omaha, NE, is also on the list. Researchers from the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals program analyzed the quality and efficiency of 255 U.S. health systems. Those in the top quintile were found to have 12.3 percent fewer mortalities, 13.2 percent fewer complications and 5.4 percent better patient safety than their peers. In addition, patients have shorter average lengths of stay and better long-term outcomes. For more information, visit the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals program Web site.
