Saint Francis to Receive Clinical Trials Participation Award
The Cancer Treatment Center at Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, NE, will receive a 2010 Clinical Trials Participation Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The award recognizes organizations that have increased clinical trial awareness and participation. While just three percent of cancer patients nationwide participate in oncology clinical trials, the Cancer Treatment Center at Saint Francis has achieved a patient participation rate of 26.5 percent. Mehmet Copur, MD, medical oncologist, will accept the award on behalf of the Saint Francis Cancer Treatment Center on June 6 at the ASCO Annual Meeting in Chicago. Saint Francis participates in National Cancer Institute-sponsored Phase II and Phase III therapeutic treatment trials, as well as industry-sponsored trials, through CHI’s Oncology Trials Network.
