Mercy West Lakes LEED Certified

West Des Moines, IA

Mercy Medical Center-West Lakes is the first hospital in Iowa built to LEED® Certified specifications and is recognized as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) facility by the U.S. Green Building Council. The 239,000-square-foot, seven-story building was designed to maximize energy efficiency and minimize operating impact on the environment. LEED certification means the building's design, construction and operations meet rigorous standards. The building's features include energy-efficient boilers, a reflective rooftop to keep summer heat out, and equipment that reduces water use. In addition, 20 percent of materials used to construct the building came from recycled goods. For more information, contact Gregg Lagan, glagan@mercydesmoines.org.
