Franciscan Health System Opens St. Anthony Hospital
Gig Harbor, WA
Franciscan Health System opened St. Anthony Hospital, Gig Harbor, WA, on March 17. The first and only hospital in Gig Harbor, St. Anthony is licensed for 80 beds. The hospital offers an array of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care; environmentally sensitive design; and state-of-the-art information and medical technologies. For example, nurses and other caregivers communicate with each other via wireless badges, preserving a quiet environment for patients. Construction of St. Anthony, named for the patron saint of sailors and fishermen, began in April 2007. The Franciscan Foundation’s Campaign for St. Anthony has raised $15.5 million to benefit the new hospital, exceeding the original goal of $10 million.
