John Trader, a cancer patient who receives treatment at The Cancer Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, Md., suggested adding cup holders to the institute’s custom-built infusion chairs.

Cancer patients who receive two- to four-hour chemotherapy treatments at The Cancer Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, Md., are enjoying the comfort of custom-built infusion chairs. The chairs were designed by the staff of The Cancer Institute and built with the help of a local furniture maker. Each chair features a movable tabletop, a DVD player and built-on screen and an iPod port. The reclining chairs also have leg rests and cup holders, as suggested by chemotherapy patients who tried out a prototype.
