Mercy Delivers 1,000th Baby of 2007

The Family Birth Center at Mercy Medical Center, Durango, Colo., celebrated a milestone on December 12 by delivering its 1,000th baby of 2007. Cortez Guadalupe Lariz, son of Elizabeth and Ramon Lariz, was delivered at 12:47 p.m. “Mercy’s Family Birth Center staff and providers did a tremendous job in 2007,” said Nancy Hoyt, chief nursing officer for Mercy. “We’re fortunate to celebrate this milestone in the same year we are celebrating the hospital’s 125th birthday and its legacy of caring for our community’s families.” The hospital expected to deliver a total of approximately 1,050 babies in 2007, up from 906 babies in 2006.
