Saint Francis Noted for Use of Universal Signage, Advocacy Team of the Year
An article about universal signage systems for health care in the March 2007 issue of Environment of Care News featured Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Neb., as an example of a hospital that uses this type of signage. Saint Francis is incorporating universal signage into its new patient tower, and eventually plans to use universal signage wherever possible and appropriate. Previously, Saint Francis served as a pilot location for a project by Hablamos Juntos that led to the development of 28 universal symbols for health care facilities. Saint Francis, was also named the Nebraska Hospital Association’s 2006 Advocacy Team of the Year at an annual Advocacy Day luncheon. Saint Francis was cited for its state and federal advocacy work as well as efforts to advance the advocacy agendas of the Nebraska Hospital Association and Catholic Health Initiatives.
