CCHIT Designated a Recognized Certification Body

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) became the first organization to be designated a Recognized Certification Body (RCB) by the Department of Health and Human Services. Christopher Macmanus, chief information officer for Catholic Health Initiatives, is a member of CCHIT’s Board of Commissioners. CCHIT evaluates health information technology products to ensure they meet baseline requirements for functionality, interoperability and security. As a RCB, CCHIT’s seal of approval accelerates adoption of health information technology products by removing uncertainty about the products’ technical capabilities.
