Sanford Named Chief Nursing Officer

Catholic Health Initiatives has named Kathleen Sanford as senior vice president and chief nursing officer, effective December 1. Sanford is currently president of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Washington, D.C. Her prior experience includes serving as a chief nursing executive and as a hospital administrator. She has worked at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Kitsap County, Wash.; St. Joseph Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash.; and Eden Hospital Medical Center, Castro Valley, Calif. Sanford holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore; a master’s degree in human resources management from Pepperdine University, Malibu, Calif.; a master’s degree in business administration from Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, Wash.; and a doctorate in business administration from Nova Southwestern University, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She has also been a Wharton fellow in the Nurse Executive Management Program at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. Sanford will be based in the Denver office of Catholic Health Initiatives.
