Four Receive Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence
Four Catholic Health Initiatives hospitals received the 2006 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence from Health Grades, Golden, Colo., a health care ratings company. Memorial Healthcare System, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Mercy Medical Center, Roseburg, Ore.; Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville, Ky., received the award for being in the top five percent of U.S. hospitals for clinical quality performance. According to a Health Grades study, Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence have markedly lower mortality and complication rates, even though they tend to treat more and sicker patients.
