Mercy Foundation in Joplin Provides Rescue Equipment to Fire Department
The Mercy Regional Health Foundation at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., presented the Cherokee, Kan., fire department with “jaws” rescue equipment valued at $20,610. The equipment will be used to extricate accident victims from wrecked vehicles, and victims trapped as a result of farm-related and other accidents. The foundation provided $10,205 of matching funds for the equipment, and the fire department has conducted fund raising projects to raise the remainder of the cost.
