Board Leaders Participate in Orientation
Board members from throughout Catholic Health Initiatives had the opportunity to learn from system leaders and network with each other during a recent orientation program.
Catholic Health Initiatives sponsored the orientation program for market-based organization board members, May 13-14 in Cincinnati, Ohio. About 65 market-based board members, chief executive officers and national staff leaders participated.
The program featured a presentation about the healing ministry of the Catholic Church; the founding of Catholic Health Initiatives; and the organization’s mission, core values and distinctive culture. The presentation was led by Esther Anderson, OSF, PhD, chair of the Board of Stewardship Trustees; Maryanna Coyle, SC, immediate past chair of the board; and Tom Kopfensteiner, STD, senior vice president of mission.
In addition, members of Catholic Health Initiatives’ national leadership spoke about healthy communities; advocacy; operations; the People strategy; and the national organization’s vision and strategic plan. Participants also learned more about their roles, fiduciary responsibilities and accountabilities as market-based organization board members.
The session concluded with an informal dialog with Anderson; Kevin Lofton, president and chief executive officer of Catholic Health Initiatives; and Michael Rowan, chief operating officer.
