Computer-Assisted Knee Replacement Surgery Performed at St. John’s in Joplin

Orthopedic surgeons are performing less-invasive, computer-assisted total knee replacement surgery at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo. The procedure combines fluoroscopic images, a proprietary computer and camera system to track precise locations of bones relative to instruments used during surgery. This enables surgeons to make computer-guided cuts to within one millimeter and one degree of perfect alignment. For more information, contact Robin McAlester of St. John’s at rmcalest@stj.com.
