The new playground at the House of Mercy was built in a day by more than 180 volunteers.

Thanks to a grant from the KaBOOM Foundation, more than 180 volunteers from the House of Mercy, Home Depot and the Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department recently built a new playground on the House of Mercy campus in Des Moines, Iowa. House of Mercy is Iowa’s largest provider of transitional housing for women in treatment for substance abuse. The playground will be used by House of Mercy residents and their children, as well as residents of the surrounding neighborhood.
