Catholic Health Initiatives Revises Vision Statement

“Catholic Health Initiatives’ vision is to live out its mission by transforming health care delivery and by creating new ministries for the promotion of healthy communities.”

The Board of Stewardship Trustees of Catholic Health Initiatives and the Members of its Civil Corporation have approved a revised vision statement for the organization: “Catholic Health Initiatives’ vision is to live out its mission by transforming health care delivery and by creating new ministries for the promotion of healthy communities.” “The Board and the Members have the responsibility to periodically review and evaluate the mission and vision statements to ensure they are relevant and appropriate,” said Peggy Martin, OP, JCL, senior vice president of sponsorship and governance. “The new vision statement deletes the phrase ‘create a national Catholic health ministry,’ because Catholic Health Initiatives has already accomplished that.” The change was suggested by the Sponsorship and Governance Committee of the Board of Stewardship Trustees. “In the process of creating Catholic Health Initiatives, the Steering Council created a vision that challenged us to push back the frontiers of health care and demonstrate a spirit of innovation built on a tradition of caring,” said Esther Anderson, OSF, PhD, chair of the Board of Stewardship Trustees. “Recently, the Board affirmed the overall direction of the Steering Council and approved the updated version of the vision statement.” Maryanna Coyle, SC, chair of the Sponsorship and Governance Committee, noted that it is important for Catholic Health Initiatives to revisit its vision in light of its accomplishments and hopes for the future. “The revised statement reinforces our original commitment to the on-going transformation of our health care ministry as well as our promotion of healthy communities,” she said.
