Joplin’s “Blast From the Past” Broadcast by Armed Forces Network
A show produced by Mercy Regional Health Foundation, a subsidiary corporation of St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., was recently broadcast by the Armed Forces Network in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. The “Blast From the Past” floor show, held in Joplin in March, was attended by more than 4,000 people and raised funds for the health needs of the region.
Major Duane Eckley and Staff Sergeant Robert Carlson of the U.S. Marines attended the show in Joplin and said it was the type of entertainment needed by U.S. armed services personnel. The show included a tribute to the men and women of the armed services and a U.S. flag sent from the Middle East by Tom Trewyn of the Missouri National Guard. Trewyn, a long-time “Blast From the Past” committee member and husband of Cathy Trewyn, an administrative assistant at St. John’s, was recently called to active duty in the Middle East.
The show aired several times on Armed Forces Television and in Armed Forces Theaters in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait from April 5 through April 15. For more information, contact Robin McAlester, media and promotions coordinator for St. John’s, at email@example.com.
