Franciscan Health System in Tacoma Secures Funding for Specialty Nurse Training
A partnership that includes Franciscan Health System, Tacoma, Wash., received a $683,100 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration for registered nurse training. The grant funds will be used to create and implement specialty nurse residency programs that will be shared between Franciscan Health System and two other partnering health care organizations. The residency programs will teach registered nurses specialty skills in medical/surgery, critical care, operating room and emergency department. The grant funds will also be used to recruit registered nurses who have left patient care back into the workforce.
