Alegent Health in Omaha Debuts Revolutionary Procedures

Alegent Health, Omaha, Neb., has introduced two revolutionary procedures: deep brain stimulation and mobile bearing knee replacement. Deep brain stimulation treats patients who suffer from Parkinson’s disease through surgical implantation of a pacemaker that releases controlled pulses of electrical stimulation to targeted areas of the brain. Mobile bearing knee replacement was developed for patients thought to be too young or too heavy for traditional joint replacement surgery.
