Catholic Health Initiatives to Consolidate
Information Technology Service Centers

"Recently, a number of factors have come together to make it clear that Catholic Health Initiatives needs to consolidate its service center operations."

— Christopher Macmanus

The national information technology services provided by the Catholic Health Initiatives service centers in Exton, Pa., and Tacoma, Wash., will be consolidated into a new national service center that will open in the Denver area in 2004.

"Recently, a number of factors have come together to make it clear that Catholic Health Initiatives needs to consolidate its service center operations," said Christopher Macmanus, chief information officer for Catholic Health Initiatives. "These include facility constraints in Tacoma; approval of a national approach to an enterprise-resource planning system; agreement on a unified approach to the operation of clinical systems in larger market-based organizations; and the duplicative costs associated with operating two information technology service centers."

Operations at the Exton and Tacoma service centers will migrate to the new service center in Denver during the next 18 months. Staff members at the Exton and Tacoma service centers, as well as market-based staff whose positions will be directly affected by the consolidation, are strongly encouraged to apply for positions at the new Denver-based center. Top leadership positions will be posted by June 2; director and manager positions will be posted by June 16; and staff positions will be posted by July 7.

Service center employees who are unable or unwilling to relocate will be offered severance packages, including retention options. "We understand that this decision presents a hardship for many Catholic Health Initiatives staff," said Macmanus. "We are grateful for their understanding and committed to providing them with timely information and support throughout this transition."
