Ownership of St. Joseph in Albuquerque Transfers to Ardent Health
Ownership of St. Joseph Healthcare System, Albuquerque, N.M., transferred from Catholic Health Initiatives to Ardent Health Services of Nashville, Tenn., effective September 6. Ardent has renamed the organization Sandia Health System.
"We are delighted to be in Albuquerque," said David T. Vandewater, president and chief executive officer of Ardent Health Services. "We look forward to building on the successes of this institution for the betterment of the Albuquerque community."
To continue the Catholic health ministry in Albuquerque, Catholic Health Initiatives is in the process of creating St. Joseph Health Ministries of New Mexico, a non-hospital, community-based health ministry that will serve the poor and underserved populations of Greater Albuquerque and New Mexico. Catholic Health Initiatives, along with the St. Joseph Healthcare System Foundation, is working with members of the St. Joseph Board of Directors, community leaders and other community organizations to identify opportunities for new ministries. St. Joseph Health Ministries of New Mexico will be funded by proceeds from the sale of St. Joseph Healthcare System.
