Vicki George, RN, PhD, will join Catholic Health Initiatives as senior vice president and chief nursing officer, effective September 1.

She will join Catholic Health Initiatives from Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee, Wis., where she most recently served as regional vice president and chief nurse executive for Aurora’s Metro Region. Under her leadership and direction, the Metro Region became the first and only health system in the country to apply for and receive the American Nurses Association’s prestigious Magnet Award in 2001, an award that recognizes excellence in all areas of nursing.

George has also served as vice president and chief nurse executive for St. Luke’s Medical Center/St. Luke’s South Shore, Milwaukee; vice president of patient care for Providence Hospital, Holyoke, Mass.; and assistant director of Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, R.I. She earned her nursing diploma from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston; bachelor’s degree in nursing from Salve Regina College, Newport, R.I.; master’s degree in nursing administration from Boston University, Boston; and doctorate in health care organizational leadership from Marquette University, Milwaukee.

George will be based in the Denver office and will serve as a senior level executive and as a member of the Operations Leadership Team, the Senior Management Leadership Team and the Clinical Group Services. She will also chair the Nurse Executive Advisory Council.
