Physicians and CEOs Attend Joint Meeting

Physicians and chief executive officers from two clusters of market-based organizations recently held concurrent meetings in Denver, Colo. The first day of the program, which was organized by James Kaskie and Deborah Lee-Eddie, senior vice presidents of operations, featured topics of interest to all of the attendees, such as measuring the value of people and their work; the Institute of Medicine’s report on "Crossing the Quality Chasm;" and successful change efforts at market-based organizations. On the second day, physicians participated in a clinical breakout session while the chief executive officers attended their own meeting on topics such as performance improvement, healthy communities and master facility plans.

Mark Heinsohn, MD, left, and Douglas Vanderbilt, MD, of Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., discussed a presentation.
