Alegent Health in Omaha begins construction of new hospital
Alegent Health, Omaha, Neb., has begun the construction of Alegent Health Lakeside Hospital, which will be the first full-service hospital in West Omaha. Lakeside Hospital, which is expected to open July 4, 2004, will offer the first 24-hour emergency department backed by a full-service hospital in western Douglas County. It will also be the first to offer obstetrical services and inpatient hospital beds in this rapidly growing area of Omaha. The hospital will have 77 all-private inpatient rooms and will offer a full range of inpatient and outpatient care, including specialty services such as surgery, cardiology and orthopedics. "Lakeside Hospital will offer the latest in technology to ensure patient health, safety and security, yet it will feature a soothing, serene environment to foster healing and enhance quality of life during a patient’s stay," said Charles J. Marr, chief executive officer of Alegent Health. Total project cost for Lakeside Hospital is estimated at $64 million.
