Dear Catholic Health Initiatives Family:

Like a single drop of water, a single idea becomes more powerful when it joins with others of its kind. This is what I see happening every day within Catholic Health Initiatives: wonderful ideas for improving our quality, our people, our growth and our performance that gain strength and influence as we share them with each other.

This coming together of ideas is reflected in the theme of Catholic Health Initiatives’ upcoming National Leadership Conference, "Streams of Innovation, River of Hope." One of the wonderful things about a health care system is that innovations in clinical excellence need never be isolated in a single facility. The larger organization makes it possible to share such good news with dozens of other facilities. This is one of the primary purposes of Catholic Health Initiatives — to take separate streams of innovative ideas and practices and transform them into a mighty river of hope. This river will nourish the future of our ministry and our industry.

For this reason, I invite all of you to attend the National Leadership Conference. It is our bi-annual opportunity to see each other face to face and to share our successes and challenges. It is our time to renew old acquaintances and make new contacts among our extended Catholic Health Initiatives family. It is also our time to learn from seasoned experts about how to address some of the most pressing issues that face us today.

The National Leadership Conference is full of activity and learning opportunities. The experience always leaves me feeling refreshed; grateful for our wonderful team of market-based and national leaders; and privileged to be a part of the ministry of Catholic Health Initiatives. I hope to see you in Covington, Ky., this September.
