Supply Chain Resource Group Supports Congregation’s International Mission

The Catholic Health Initiatives Supply Chain Resource Group, along with St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo., and Roche Diagnostics, has provided blood glucose monitoring equipment and supplies to a clinic that serves a small village in Guatemala.

"Some diabetic residents in the village rely on the clinic to provide their daily glucose monitoring," said Ben Palatchi, manager, CV/imaging/lab supply programs for Catholic Health Initiatives. "These products will make it easier to manage the overall health of these patients."

Palatchi worked with Charleen McGrath of Roche Diagnostics to secure the donation of the blood glucose monitoring equipment, along with a supply of test strips. At St. Mary-Corwin, Kathy Hruby and Linda Hawkins arranged for the donation of additional equipment. They also provided training on its use to Sarah Mulligan, SC, of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, who helps manage the clinic.

"Many of Catholic Health Initiatives participating congregations work to provide international mission-based services outside the hospital setting, and this is an example of how we can work together to support their efforts," said Palatchi.
