Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE, opened a new Walkway Gallery that showcases the works of regional artists and serves as an aid in the healing process. The Walkway Gallery is located in a corridor that connects the main hospital to the new West Tower. It was developed as part of Good Samaritan’s Planetree philosophy of patient-centered healing. A team that included representatives of Good Samaritan, the Museum of Nebraska Art, the University of Nebraska-Kearney and community artists selected the artists to be featured in the gallery. The team followed a competitive selection process that used documented research criteria for art that supports healing in a hospital environment. A new artist’s work will be displayed every four months.
