Saint Joseph Berea, part of KentuckyOne Health, recently opened an outpatient infusion center in the hospital, which will expand infusion options for both patients and providers. The center provides intravenous infusions of fluids, medications and therapeutic injections in an accessible outpatient environment. Infusion therapy is particularly beneficial for patients who cannot take medications by mouth. The ability to receive these services on an outpatient basis enables patients to live at home and attend school or remain on the job, with little disruption to their daily routine. Offering these services in a non-hospital environment also means a lower cost to the patient.
